Begin before the payment screen.
A customer may still be unsure about size, stock or delivery when they reach the basket. Make those answers easy to find earlier. Audit the journey on ordinary mobile screens and realistic connections, including a return visit after an interruption.
Explain what the shopper will pay.
Review how shipping, eligibility, discounts and other charges appear. Keep the final amount understandable before the customer commits. Test whether form fields, validation messages and address requirements help the shopper recover from a mistake.
Test supported payment routes independently.
Where offered, examine UPI, cards and cash on delivery as separate journeys. A failed payment and an abandoned purchase need different diagnoses. Use transaction and error records to explain the problem instead of assuming a preferred payment method is the answer for everyone.
Measure retained value.
Checkout completion is useful, but it should connect with delivery, cancellations and eventual retained revenue. Monitor accessibility, support contacts and payment failures alongside conversion when evaluating a change.
Bring a real question.
Be ready to challenge the plan.
Put the customer need, the evidence and the commercial outcome on the table. A recommendation should be able to defend its place.
